Oil on 5x7 hardboard.
We have received new snow every day for what seems forever with cold temps...thus my title of "Winter Daydreams" for this painting of Marloes peninsula, Pembrokeshire coastline in Wales, UK.
This time I first toned the support with Cad. Orange acrylic to try for a warmer, brighter, look. I'm fairly pleased with the result.
The reference image was supplied by Lin for the WDE at Wet Canvas.

I like the little bits of cad orange peeking through the grass.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, I like the depth.
ReplyDeleteBeauty Dean. It's like traveling without the travel part. Days are getting longer my friend.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Pam! I love working on a toned support for that reason! Those little bits peeking through harmonize and energize.
ReplyDeleteHi, Maria..thanks...that was one of my aims for this painting....though I almost forgot about it till the last...then I reduced the receding values.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Vern! Very true...the days are getting longer...we're on our way out of winter!!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, Dean! Makes me long for warm weather.
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by, Gwen! Yep...we're barely into Winter and I'm longing fir Spring!
ReplyDeleteThis is so gorgeous, Dean. So beautifully executed, such a trip through my head to be standing on this grass and staring out to sea...
ReplyDeleteI love the simplicity and slow movement in this painting. It is the first time I see one of your landscapes and it has a very special quality, Dean!
ReplyDeleteThis is beautiful Dean! Again, your brushstrokes are so darned good!
ReplyDeleteReally like the way you did this ocean scene. I think my favorite part is the foreground. Actually went to the ocean today since it has warmed up some here.
ReplyDeleteRight there in the reverie, Dean. We've had temps in the 20's, and might have more snow tonight. You folks have had it worse, I think.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful painting. that underpainting gives it a nice glow.
You should be pleased Dean, this is a lovely landscape. I love your brushstrokes in the foreground water!
ReplyDeleteGreat painting, my friend - love the brushwork!
ReplyDeletevery nice Dean. Really liked your recent post of the Coyote.
ReplyDeleteHAPPY NEW YEAR AND GOD BLESS.
Peaceful, Chilly, Nice!
ReplyDeleteI think this is one of my favorite land/seacapes Deano! The wispy grasses up front and the cool waves in the background. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteI thought that crow #4 was pretty awesome too.
Beautiful, we do dream of those days when our fingers are freezing don't we. I like the warmth you got in this piece
ReplyDeletea very beautiful landscape--with coolness in the air
ReplyDeleteThat's just lovely. It looks just like Burdick or Schmid painting it. ;) Thanks for your note on my blog. It's always nice to hear from you. Have a great day, Dean!
