Oil on 7x5 hardboard.
The time just felt right for another crow. I placed some thick strokes on the black gessoed support. The background is a continuation of my previous crow/raven paintings.

On this venture of mine I plan to do a number of things. To post paintings which are for sale...to post a daily painting...and show some works in progress( demos). The art will be in Oils with an Acrylic sneaking in now and then.
Love the blue/blacks in this against the gold. lovely color.
ReplyDeleteThe BG makes this for me. Very nice.
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful crow. Like the colors in the bg too. Watched a crow hide something in my yard today.
ReplyDeleteI'm now calling you the crow master! Love these strokes Dean!! Keep it up!
ReplyDeleteLovely brushwork as usual, Dean. Mmmm, crows! Is this just a coincidence, or is everybody leaning towards Van Gogh this year?
ReplyDeleteWe have so many crows here on the fields this winter, always digging for corn. It´s beautiful to watch them, big black shadows on the white snowy ground...
ReplyDeleteBut your crow with the orange-brown background is impressing, too.
:-) Greetings from Germany
Nice crow, Dean, I can see it is thinking...
ReplyDeleteI keep hearing the raucous screech of "Nevermore! Nevermore!" What a fabulous painting, Dean!!
ReplyDeleteThrilled to see another crow painting from you, beautiful contrast in colors.
ReplyDeleteI love the way you've handled the blacks. Your crow is very well done.
ReplyDeleteGreat contrast between the raven and the background.
ReplyDeleteAnother wonderful crow painting Dean. You have great success with these little guys don't you? People need a series of Dean's crows I think.
ReplyDeleteGreat painting Dean, of a not such a nice bird! The crows around here keep chasing off all my garden birds!
