Hairdo-Cow

 Close ups

Oil on 7x5 canvas panel.

This is my contribution to this week's WDE  at Wet Canvas. mlou was the hostess who supplied this great reference photo!
I decided to try the cow standing waaaaay back in the reference photo. There was a lack of detail after I had cropped it and greatly enlarged the image. So, much of the features were supplied by memory and other close up photos.

Bathers-Figurative

 Close ups

Oil on 5x7 canvas panel.

This is my contribution to The Cloud Bather Challenge at DPW posted by that really fine artist, Carol Marine.
She stated that  the challenge is the foreshortened bodies (and the complete lack of sun).

I thought of a few titles that made me chuckle, but, thankfully, discretion won out. :)

This is by painting knife. I think I let a bit more sun in than I should have..but old habits are hard to break.

Fruit O' The Vine-Grapes

 Close ups

Oil on 5x7 hardboard.

This is my contribution to this week's WDE  at Wet Canvas. Sharron was the hostess who supplied this great reference photo! Thanks, Sharron !

I was in the mood for more painting knife this week, and the grapes seemed to be just what I needed. My goal was to keep this super loose and to leave a lot of room for interpretation for the viewer.
I'm fairly satisfied with the outcome...(at least for now).
I owe much of this approach to that fine artist, Julie Ford Oliver.

Woodland Watch-Blue Jay

Close ups

Oil on 7x5 canvas panel.

This is my contribution to The Birdbrain Challenge at DPW posted by that really fine artist, Carol Marine.
Carol said: Your challenge this week is to paint any bird of your choosing.
Those directions were simple enough...even for a birdbrain like me.

I really like the brash blue jay! He sounds off at the slightest disturbance which warns all the critters within earshot to be on the lookout. Many folks hate his noisy behavior and the threat he sometimes poses to other birds. But I love the color and the bluejay is only doing what God designed it to do.

Wild Thing-Wolf

Close ups

Oil on 5x7 hardboard.

This is my contribution to this week's WDE at Wet Canvas. Jean was the hostess who supplied this great reference photo! Thanks, Jean!

I chose the wolf. I have done many in the past. Wolves are majestic, fearsome, beautiful, and heartbreaking all at once.

Dream Team-Cat

Close ups

Oil on 7x5 hardboard.

This is my contribution to this week's WDE at Wet Canvas. Kay, a super talent painter, was the hostess who supplied this great reference photo!

Taco Belle, the cat, is really at peace in dreamland. And, of course, there's his odd-couple friend.
This is one of those "I'm not sure if it's done" kind of paintings. I keep resisting the urge to go back in and mess with Taco's fur...But, then again, it all comes together and looks fine from a little distance. So that tells me to stop, and don't overwork it.

Are You My Daddy?-Bulb Still Life

Close ups

Oil on 5x7 hardboard.

This is my contribution to The Lightbulb Challenge at DPW posted by that really fine artist, Carol Marine.
The assignment: Find a light bulb. Paint it. Have fun with it! My kind of assignment! Thanks, Carol! :)

The title could very well be the burning question in many a little nite lite's mind.

I wanted to do this painting Fast and Loose! Something really desirable in paintings....not so much in significant others...Lol.
So I went with large brush..generous paint. Keep it moving. If I started to slow down to nit-pick at details I forced myself to move on!!
I like the result. Hope you do too! :)
