The Comforter-Figurative
Oil on 5x7 canvas panel. I have cropped this in my editor to the equivalent of a 5x5 because it just looks better...Cheating??..... maybe
This is my contribution to The Reading Challenge at DPW posted by Victor Tristante.
Victor instructed: Paint your spouse, or any loved one, reading in their favorite reading place. Use the light, composition, and the warm glow of the night to make this an intimate painting.
I didn't have a photo of the pose I needed so this is a symbolic painting. It's in memory of my passed wife reading the Bible. She got me hooked on the Book...Thank you, Kay.

2 Corinthians 4:18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.

Ya Never Forget-Figurative
Oil on 6x6 canvas panel.
This is my contribution to this week's WDE at Wet Canvas. Bonnie was the hostess who supplied a lot of great reference photos!
The bike rider was my choice because I was intrigued by the cast shadow and the aging rider. I tried to keep it simple by just going for color and painterly strokes. It was really an enjoyable ride...

T. Rex-Praying Mantis
Oil on 7x5 hardboard.
This is my contribution to The Insect Challenge at DPW posted by KT Montgomery.
She wrote: The challenge is to find an insect, study it and create an interesting composition. Have fun!
The formidable looking praying mantis reminds me of the T. Rex of the insect world. The ladies don't believe in divorces either.

Mr Macaw-Parrot
Oil on 6X6 canvas panel.
This is my contribution to this week's WDE at Wet Canvas. Joel was the great host who supplied a lot of great reference photos!
The colorful macaw called out to be painted! And he's quite a talker!
In some spots I lay the paint on thick with a palette knife then manipulated with a brush.
C&C welcome. Thanks for looking!
In case I don't have time for a timely post, Happy Father's Day!!!!

Holding More Than Flowers-Vase
Oil on 7x5 hardboard.
This is my contribution to the Gift Challenge II at DPW posted by the extraordinary artist, Abbey Ryan .
Abbey suggested to paint something that you feel connected to or has meaning for you because someone gave it to you.
This is a simple little vase with Greek (I think) figures. My Mother loved the little vase, and now I love the many recollections it holds.

1 Corinthians 4:5 Therefore judge nothing before the appointed time; wait until the Lord comes. He will bring to light what is hidden in darkness and will expose the motives of the heart. At that time each will receive their praise from God.

The Thinker-Cat
Oil on 6X6 canvas panel.
This is my contribution to this week's WDE Wet Canvas. Ros was the great hostess. She supplied plenty of terrific reference photos. This is her Scottish Fold cat. Their ears fold over toward the front...thus the name. It just looks as if he's contemplating all the questions of life. Love the Buddha pose.

Valri-Portrait
Oil on 7x5 canvas panel.
This is my contribution to this week's WDE at Wet Canvas. Valri was the great hostess. She supplied plenty of terrific reference photos. This is a portrait of the hostess herself.
Could have perhaps gotten a better likeness, but I don't like to fiddle with oil sketches too long. I'd rather try to keep the spontaneity.
Thanks for looking!
I included a photo of an early stage to show how I started the piece.
