Light Struck-Lamb
Oil on 6x6 canvas panel.
This is my contribution to this week's WDE at Wet Canvas. Gail was the great hostess. She supplied plenty of terrific reference photos.
One of her ref photos was of a whole flock of sheep. It was all too overwhelming for me, so I decided to pick one little lamb who was posing so nicely and make him the star of the flock. I placed him under the spotlight center stage and turned on the color. This is a style I used a lot in the past and it felt good to revisit it again!! I really had fun on this one.
The paint is kept thin for the darks and applied thickly for the lights.
Thanks for looking and commenting!!

love the warmth of the sun on this lovely little creature! Well done!
ReplyDeleteDean, this painting is a perfect reflection of how I see you. I'm sure you'll know what I mean if you think about it. It is so beautiful, quite heavenly. I love the way you handled the wooly fleece.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful color and shapes here, Dean. Lovely!!
ReplyDeleteThe expression of this little innocent lamb reminds me at once of THE LAMB who was lead to slaughter for our sins ..... very touching and emotional for me.
ReplyDeleteJust love how you've captured the light on this sweet, little lamb
