These challenges are exactly that! Really new subject matter for me which I really enjoyed once I was into it.
I enjoyed the contrast between the cool shadows and the warm stucco wall. I used the painting knife to provide the impasto of the wall.

Nice shadows. Your success at this shows in volumes.
ReplyDeleteDean, you really have created a beautiful work. It's simple, well-constructed, and the colors are exquisite -soft, subtle, with perfect contrast.
ReplyDeleteabsolutely love it. It is crazy that you can paint such a good shadow!
ReplyDeleteExcellent scripture verse this morning, Dean. I was just commenting elsewhere that I need to remember to look up.
ReplyDeleteI love the simplicity and beauty of this piece and you did an awesome job on those shadows!
It's a beautiful approach. The shadows are great, congratulations!!
ReplyDeleteWow, next level quality work Dean!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Kathryn...I really appreciate your in depth thoughts on this piece! :)
ReplyDeleteThanks very much, Celeste! Funny...I was "sweating it out" in doubt until the very last phase of this one.
ReplyDeleteBy all means, Sherry...Always remember to look upward!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind words.
Thank you, Mayra!
ReplyDeleteGidday Dean!... This piece sure warmed my heart and my imagination! So much said... with so very little!
ReplyDeleteIt has a wonderfully succinct and simple feel... usually attributed to oriental painting! A real beauty Dean!
The title works well in tandem with the image as well. Love your quote fior the day as well!
At the risk of sounding sacrilegious (not intended)... I'll offer my own (radio) quote for the day. Might only be you and I who can remember and identify with this one:
"Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows! HA HA HA!!!"... Remember Deano???
Good Painting!
Warmest regards,
Bruce
I LOVE these shadows, Dean!!!
