Cascading Shade

Close ups

Oil on 7x5 canvas panel.

This is my contribution to The Shadow Challenge at DPW posted by Laurie Miller .
Laurie wrote: "Shadows can be really fun to paint. Find a subject with a dramatic shadow and make be sure to make the shadow an important part of your composition."
These challenges are exactly that! Really new subject matter for me which I really enjoyed once I was into it.
I enjoyed the contrast between the cool shadows and the warm stucco wall. I used the painting knife to provide the impasto of the wall.

  10. Gidday Dean!... This piece sure warmed my heart and my imagination! So much said... with so very little!
It has a wonderfully succinct and simple feel... usually attributed to oriental painting! A real beauty Dean!

The title works well in tandem with the image as well. Love your quote fior the day as well!

At the risk of sounding sacrilegious (not intended)... I'll offer my own (radio) quote for the day. Might only be you and I who can remember and identify with this one:

"Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows! HA HA HA!!!"... Remember Deano???

    Good Painting!
    Warmest regards,
    Bruce
