Sly Guy-Red Fox

Close ups

Oil on 7x5 hardboard.

This is my contribution to this week's WDE at Wet Canvas. Mike was the great host. Thanks for the terrific reference photos, Mike.

I really liked the sly guy...Mr. fox. I had done a painting of a wolf peering out through autumn leaves in '06. I went back and found where I had posted it on my blog so that I could use it as reference. Then, I just used the same idea for this red fox.

  2. Il a l'air bien rusé ce renard... Je pense, moi, que vous avez été plus malicieux que lui, car vous avez réussi à merveille à peindre toute son espièglerie!!!

  7. Thanks, Sherry...But I think I may have overdone it with the leaves....they became competitive with the fox.

  10. Awesome painting, Dean!! I love the way the leaves are working as a camouflage for this little guy! However, I wouldn't want to see him when I hike! LOL...again! Excellent.
