Jungle Gem- Macaw
Oil on 6x6 canvas panel.
This is my contribution to this week's WDE at Wet Canvas. Marianne was the gracious hostess. Thanks for the great reference photo, Marianne!
I tried a different approach on painting this beautiful macaw.
First I sketched in some key lines with my black Sharpie. Then I applied very thin oil paint in washes. Lastly I selectively gobbed on thick color in focal areas. Much of what you see are thinned washes. Some of the original pen lines were left visible because I thought they added to the look.
It was fun working with the thin washes! I hope you like it!

Matthew 21:21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.22And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
