Sharing-Figurative

Close ups

Oil on 6x6 canvas panel.

This is my contribution to this week's DPW's The Crowd Challenge posted by Carol Marine .
Carol posted a photo of a rather large crowd at a restaurant.
We were asked to select and paint a part of it.

I selected a really close crop of a couple sharing a drink, perhaps after lunch.
This one stokes curiosity. Being faceless, they could be anyone we choose them to be...me...or you...or friends that we know. The painting's intent is to invite the viewer into a private moment to search and question.

Bravo!
    Gros bisous

  2. These last two paintings almost look as though they were completed with pastel. Nice job!

  3. I love that we can have sophisticated moments while wearing jeans these days. I think this is elegant, Dean. Love that black underpainting too. Then I always do.

  5. I like the way the figure on the right's arm is pointing us to the green bag behind the leg of the figure on the left. I'm left wondering if this meeting is during a day of shopping or if a gift is about to be given. Cool composition.

  7. They were both started with very thin oil washes to set the value. That helps to give them this particular look.

It sure speeds up the painting process for me.
