Oil on 5x7 hardboard
This is my contribution to this week's DPW's The Shoe Challenge posted by Cheri Homaee.
Cheri asked us to paint significant shoes in our life.
These saddle shoes belonged to my wife who passed away in '04. She loved dancing. So these shoes symbolize her healthy teen days. Although her last few years on earth were very difficult... I know she is dancing now.

Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Dean, Another wonderful painting!
ReplyDeletemy new FAVORITE. Amazing how you achieved that chalky white appearance, like the shoe have been whitened several times. Could not be better!

ReplyDeleteI have to agree with Celeste and Barbara above, Dean. A most fabulous piece, one I hope you will keep for yourself. I also wore this type of shoes when I was on PomPoms in high school. Wish I'd have kept the shoes!

ReplyDeleteThanks a lot, Celeste! I got that chalky look by greatly varying the pressure on the brush.

ReplyDeleteThank you, Sherry.
ReplyDeleteThere's a rose painting that I did within a month of her passing away. That is my keeper that is not for sale.
