Oil on 7x5 canvas panel.
This is my contribution to this week's WDE at Wet Canvas. Jean was the gracious hostess. Thanks for the great reference photo.
This grazer just seemed really peaceful nibbling away in the sunshine.
I had fun laying it on thick in selected spots and pushing the color.

Veterans Day 2011
Veterans Day 2011
Some of you folks probably remember this painting from the past.
I always feel an overwhelming need to pay tribute to all those in service to this wonderful country. Honoring patriotism and God needs to take a high priority in these very trying times.
This painting of a praying soldier was done with love and in support of our troops. God bless them.

Luke 20:36
Neither can they die any more: for they are equal unto the angels; and are the children of God, being the children of the resurrection.
Great sheep. Love the values in the texture.
ReplyDeleteDean I love the sheep, especially the whisps of flowers and grass in the foreground. Also think the praying soldier is so sobering and such a tribute to our soldiers. Thanks
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful face, the texture in the sheep sure reads like a wooly sheep.
ReplyDeleteSuper nice sheep...and the soldier is always a pleasure to see again...one of your best!
ReplyDeletePowerful thoughts and emotions seen in both of these pieces, Dean. Peace indeed. Gorgeous work.
ReplyDeleteNice brush strokes in the sheep painting.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sheep painting! As far as your praying soldier...what a beautiful piece and tribute, Dean.! You should post that one every year!!
