Old Mill Revisited

Close ups

LinkOil on 5x7 canvas panel.

This is my contribution to this week's The Rectangle Challenge posted by Mary Douglas.

The challenge was to build up your painting through a series of rectangles. A great way to simplify.
I inadvertently didn't follow the instructions to the letter. I wasn't aware of this until I went back and rechecked the instructions after I completed this submission.

This is a redo of the Old Mill Challenge of June 25.
I really enjoyed this very freeing exercise! Thank you, Mary!

  1. Just as beautiful the second time around with the rectangle constraint, Dean.

  2. The wisely arranged brush strokes coupled wiuth the glowing orange makes it look like a stain glass.. for myeyes.. liked this one a lot!

  3. Such a tiny painting with such huge impact! One really wants to go there to that place by the mill!

  4. Beautifully painted, Dean! Great colors.
