Oil on 5x7 hardboard.
This is my contribution to this week's WDE at Wet Canvas. The hostess, Astrid, provided the photos.
The iguana (spiny iguana, I believe) looks like a tough customer from it's facial expression. I just invented the background to sorta reflect his personality.
He's not really sitting on a BBQ grill...Lol!

Scary! but beautifully painted, Dean. perfect color for the background.
ReplyDeleteThe bold brush strokes on the back ground and the warm colors have brought out the aggressiveness of this guy well! But personally,I am scared of this family of creatures :-)
ReplyDeleteI've never had the pleasure of painting one of these guys; you've definitely captured the severe, scary look very well. Hope you are staying cool this very hot summer; take care!
ReplyDeleteSo gorgeous, Dean! This reminds me a dragon with that firey background!
ReplyDeleteNow look at that guy, like a bully schoolboy! You captured it so well!
ReplyDeleteHe's great Dean and that warm background works so well with him. Wouldn't want to run into him either, lol.
ReplyDeleteI love how your colors always remind me of the south, yet you live in ohio.
ReplyDeleteWell they make me smile and I'm always happy to stop in and see them on your blog.
Oh he is gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteGosh! he is cute and bold. Not one to be messed with I think.

ReplyDeleteThanks, Padmaja and Hilda...This does kinda look like a poster for an upcoming movie..."The Iguana That Ate Ohio"...Lol.
ReplyDeleteAngela...It finally got very cool and Fall-like today. Around 75 degrees.....Ahhhhh!
ReplyDeleteYou're right, Sherry. I should paint in a fair damsel. ;)
Hi Marie and Barbara...
ReplyDeleteMy apologies to all you iguana lovers out there. It is not my intention to drum up bad PR for these pets.
Fay...My parents were both from the South...so it may be genetic. ;)
ReplyDeleteThank you, Liz!
Angela...He's probably just a great bluffer.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Ben!
