Take A Number-Gulls
Oil on 7x5 archival canvas panel.
This is for the WDE at Wet Canvas. Christine was the hostess and supplied the reference photos. Thanks, Christine!
I liked the clamor evident in the seagull photo. I wanted to do something in which I could push the chroma level of the color plus leave the strokes unblended. I figured this approach might promote the excitement of the gulls. Don't know if I succeeded all the way, but it was fun trying anyhow.

Fun painting! Reminds me of trips to the beach, catching sand crabs and feeding them to the gulls.
ReplyDeleteyes...success, I feel the "clamor"--- You are such a good painter...a "slice of life" painter for sure. LOVE it!
ReplyDeleteOh have I seen this scene many times! Beautifully handled, as always Dean.
ReplyDeleteGulls are one of my favourite subjects too, Dean. You painted them so well!
