On Auction For Japanese Relief
Oil on 5x7 hardboard.
The cherry blossom is a symbol of the brevity of our lives upon this planet. It only blooms for a short time, and then, too quickly, it is no more. But this is not meant to be a depressing concept. No...rather it serves to remind us to appreciate the time we are given to the utmost. We should be filled with gratitude for what we are given and enjoy this great gift.
The title, "Storms Never Last", refers to recovering from the heartrending tragedy that struck Japan's people Friday 11th March 2011. It was a huge "storm" that will eventually subside. The strength and resilience of the stricken people will win out.
The symbol of the lovely cherry blossom should remind us that all things pass in time and that bad situations won't last forever. It can be comforting especially in times of grief or other hardship. It's definitely something you can look at and cherish forever - no matter how old you get.
James 4:14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. 15 Instead, you ought to say, “If it is the Lord’s will, we will live and do this or that.”
Your verse from scripture and the symbolic cherry blossoms are all so very relevant, Dean! Thank you for caring!
