Oil on a 5x7 archival canvas panel.
Have you ever had the experience of doing a very controlled painting- sign it- then look at your messy paint smeared palette? I have done this many times...and many times I say,"OMG! The palette is a better piece of art than my finished canvas !!"
On the palette, there are beautiful swirls of color that make me believe the spirit of Claude Monet slipped into the studio and has left a tutorial on how to create gorgeous art.
I attempted to employ his lesson with this painting. Much color mixing is done by picking up several colors with the tip of the brush then applying them directly upon the canvas. I often surprised my eye by what I saw happening. That creates excitement for me that I hope carries over to the viewer! I had fun with this.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful color combination, Dean, and well composed - really directs your eye to the focal point.
ReplyDeleteHmm, Dean. Achieving neat effects by accident...in this case would that be "Oops..A Daisy"? Nice artwork. Your palette looks like Monet..mine like Jackson Pollock.
