Oil on 7x5 archival canvas panel.
I finally had a chance to partake in the Windows To The Words Challenge. It is run by a real fun guy by the name of James Parker. This challenge is for March, so there's still plenty of time to join in. Come on in...the water's fine! Check his blogs out!
Many of you know by now how much I love to paint birds. So with this painting I return to a favorite subject and even return to a more familiar style.
During my blog surfing, I am exposed to many beautiful and successful styles. These techniques soak in, and little by little, I drift away from the style which had always been more uniquely mine. Well, this return is more me. It was fun to figuratively come home!

Love your bluebird Dean. I really enjoy your blog so have nominated you for the bloggers Sunshine Award. Just go to my blog to retrieve it and there you will find what to do next.
ReplyDeleteI really like this one! I hear you on the blog surfing thing, one can really be influenced to try different styles! I do it all the time too. Thanks for the link to this new challenge, I am going to try it! How do you like your Etsy account? I was thinking of trying one. Do you get a lot of sales? Congrats on the sunshine award!

Hey Dean - I love this little bluebird - they are such colorful sweet little birds. I don't see them too often in real life but love it when I do. Great job and I love your style of painting!
ReplyDeleteWe've had flocks of these little lovelies around here lately...and they don't belong here in a relatively urban area!
ReplyDeleteI saw the reference photo and really like how you reinterpreted the background to make a more unified composition. Nicely done, as always!
Hi, Lokelani...I am truly honored and thank you for the nomination! But I just posted that one on Feb. 17th, So I feel I must respectfully decline this time.
ReplyDeleteArtspaz aka Karen....I used to get a bunch of sales from eBay before the economy nosedived. Now I make more sales from Etsy...but they are not numerous enough to write home about.
ReplyDeleteGood luck on Etsy, Karen.
Thanks, Karen! Aren't those bluebirds among the best? I have never seen one in real life that I know of. They are supposed to be in my area...Ohio.
ReplyDeleteI just love your birds as well Dean. I'm working on a parrot from a pic a follower sent me...we shall see...I LOVE our birds here in the mountains...but this one is so colorful! I'm glad your inspiration from all your surfing has helped you find your bliss!! YEA!
ReplyDeleteTrop mignon ! Léo mon toucan s'en ferait un ami!
ReplyDeleteDean, we've had a lovely day here today, and then I get home and see this gorgeous bird of yours. Just feels all the more like spring...thanks.
ReplyDeleteThe bird is so lovely, crowned with blue flowers and in a royal "postion"!
ReplyDeleteIt's beautiful Dean a combination of draftmanship, colour and style :)
ReplyDeleteThis is an awesome painting--so fresh and bright. I totally love it!

yes, it is really lovely, very good
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful little bluebird, Dean. I also love the background of muted leaves. They set this little guy off to utmost. Gorgeous painting!
ReplyDeleteI love the way this bluebird stands out against "the persian carpet of forest colors" in the background, Dean.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful Dean! You can see you love birds. I also loved your Silverback Gorilla - a beautiful, but sad face.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful job, Dean. Wonderful color combination.
ReplyDeleteTruly great, love the colors.
ReplyDeleteDean--Not a lot of Blue Birds around here. I have seen them in middle Massachusetts and wish they were around here. Very nice!
ReplyDeleteYour bluebird is so well done...he's a real highlight of WTTW Art. I do appreciate your participation so much. Bluebirds are found in central Texas, but not in profusion, but when you see one, there is no mistaking him.
