Essence Of Wolf

Today, I felt 'up' for something different. I've been mulling this over in my mind for awhile. The idea is to just paint the essence of the subject and leave all the details out. With the greatest economy of strokes what would make a canvas cry "wolf"?

Much of this surface is just toned with acrylic. The essence is done in oil.

Oil on 7x5 archival canvas panel. Sold

  3. Dean, I have (just this morning) won the bid on E-bay for this painting. I am also an artist, doing mostly landscapes. BUT when I saw the wolf face and those eyes, it's like I could touch the very animal soul behind them. I'm looking forward to seeing and owning the original. Thank you for making it available. BJ

  4. Hi, BJ! Thanks for your bid. I was trying to portray just the essentials it takes to idenify as "wolf". When I did the eyes, I forced myself to stop then and there. I too, thought they captured the wild spirit of the animal.

    Best wishes, Dean
