Beach Outing

Oil on 5x7 gessoed hardboard.
There's something about this strange color palette that I like. The hot neon pink on the child was strange but I'm glad that I used it. Th dark deep green is a choice I've never used for an ocean before, but I'm glad I used it. Same goes for using a sky that dark blue for a sunny beach scene. I'm pretty used to a new choice working it's way into a painting occasionally, but this bugger's full of 'em. What fun!

  8. Hi Dean, First I want to thank you for visiting my blog. I love your work, there is much detail and those pears are super as well.
You may have read that I just tried my first acrylic. I have much respect now for the detail some painters get into their work.

  31. Totally Dig the use of Neon Pink! it's perfect.

question - 1.is it oil or an acrylic sneak-in. 2.if it is oil, did you mix it yourself or procure it. 3.if you procured it, where did you find it. I have been looking for a similar color for a project I am working on and cannot find it. thanks. Russell in Texas

  32. Hi, Russell...This is oil. I mixed it using Thio Violet, a touch of Utra. Blue, and Permalba White. The first two colors are Grumbacher Pre-tested Oils...the white is Weber. Hope this helps on your project. :)
