Concentration-Ballplayer-Figurative

 Close ups

Oil on 7x5 canvas panel.

This is my contribution to this week's WDE at Wet Canvas. JR was the great host who supplied all the reference photos. Thanks, JR, for a fine job !

I had to try painting the young ballplayer, Anthony. He has such a look of concentration...His figure looks charged up with energy...like a coiled spring. Anywho...That's what I was trying to capture here.

C&C welcome. Thanks for looking!

Isaiah 64:8        Yet, O Lord, You are our Father; we are the clay, and You our Potter, and we all are the work of Your hand.

    1. Thanks, Hilda! It was amazing how getting the shapes right made such a big difference. I had a tough time getting there.

  2. Bonjour Dean,

I found today in your painting the same attention in the eyes (strange because I was not close at the game! But I'm sure it was this look it!)
A beautiful painting! The whole atmosphere of a winner reign. Beautiful harmony of colors ...
      Big hugs to you."
Thanks, Martine! I hope your team won!

    1. Wow...Thanks, Celeste! :)
The features are put in with a wing and a prayer...I think that's what the term is. I keep cutting back into lines such as mouth and nose to make them thinner.

  5. This is great, Dean!!! His pose is perfect, and you have captured the look of intense focus in his eyes and the set of his mouth. And I always love warm colors. :)
