Fruit O' The Vine-Grapes

 Close ups

Oil on 5x7 hardboard.

This is my contribution to this week's WDE  at Wet Canvas. Sharron was the hostess who supplied this great reference photo! Thanks, Sharron !

I was in the mood for more painting knife this week, and the grapes seemed to be just what I needed. My goal was to keep this super loose and to leave a lot of room for interpretation for the viewer.
I'm fairly satisfied with the outcome...(at least for now).
I owe much of this approach to that fine artist, Julie Ford Oliver.

John 2:9     and the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine. He did not realize where it had come from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew.

  1. Recently, I went wine tasting in the North fork of Long Island and the grapes looked just like yours on the vine!! Beautifully painted, Dean!

  2. Good Morning Dean!... This gem reeks of harvest both in your choice of colour and design!

It is abstract in the truest sense at first glance... but as you stare deeper into the composition... minute and indistinct (at first glance) detail emerges!

"So much said with so little"... the essence of a great piece!

    Good Fall Painting!
    Warmest regards,
    Bruce

  3. Wow, Dean! This is just so rich and so gorgeous! Something I've always wanted to paint myself and still haven't managed it.
