Strut Your Stuff-Rooster
Oil on 7x5 canvas panel.
This is my contribution to this week's WDE at Wet Canvas. Lin was the hostess who supplied this great reference photo!
I picked the fancy rooster. Chickens were a very common subject to me a few years ago. It's nice to try one once more.
I've been surfing the blogs as usual. One thing that was mentioned quite a bit was using enough paint. And I came across this quote by John Singer Sargent: "No small dabs of colour - you want plenty of paint to paint with."
I have been guilty of being stingy with paint...so this time my mounds of color were a little more generous.

ReplyDeleteI like the warmth in your light and the cool in your shadow. This has been something I have focused in on lately. Very nice Dean!

ReplyDeleteAs always, you nailed the lightest lights!
ReplyDeleteI like your use of heavier paint here. I have been trying to do the same but its not easy after a lifetime of learning to be frugal :) Beautiful colors as well!
