The Comforter-Figurative

Close ups

Oil on 5x7 canvas panel. I have cropped this in my editor to the equivalent of a 5x5 because it just looks better...Cheating??..... maybe

This is my contribution to The Reading Challenge at DPW posted by Victor Tristante.
Victor instructed: Paint your spouse, or any loved one, reading in their favorite reading place. Use the light, composition, and the warm glow of the night to make this an intimate painting.

I didn't have a photo of the pose I needed so this is a symbolic painting. It's in memory of my passed wife reading the Bible. She got me hooked on the Book...Thank you, Kay.

2 Corinthians 4:18 So we don’t look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever.

  2. Hi there Dean!... Your paintings ... in combination with your spiritually uplifting and always thought-provoking Biblical quotes never fail to pique my spirit "within"!

Your reverence for a good life... well-lived in service matches that quality highly evident in your work as well.

Lucky Kay... and Lucky "You" Dean!

    The beat goes on!

    Good Painting!
    Warmest regards and Prayers!

  5. Dean, your wife is beautiful! And you know what? Before I even read your words, I knew she was reading the Bible. I just knew...the expression on her face. I know that this is a piece that you will cherish and hopefully put on your nightstand beside your bed.

  6. Heartwarming story to go with the painting. I love moments like this. The painting is so very special but I like the strong cropping which added power.
The quote today also fits for me.

  9. She was obviously beautiful both spiritually and physically. It is apparant none of we ladies who admire you and your work so much could ever catch a heart whose already had it all. Your portraits of people are as great as those of animals!

  10. Who says cropping is cheating? i thought cropping or cutting a painting down was just editing in art. It's necessary in writing so must be in art as well!
