The Smile-Portrait
Oil on 6x6 canvas panel.
This is my contribution to this week's WDE at Wet Canvas. Li was the hostess who supplied a lot of great reference photos!
I picked the delightful Patrise and her boy! The sun is no match for her bright, warm smile!
She runs the local straw market making baskets, etc. out of palm leaves...I believe she's in Nassau.

Gorgeous portrait, Dean!!! She's got such a beautiful expression on her face!! SO well done!!!
ReplyDeleteShe has got that love light in her eyes, Dean. Another beauty.
ReplyDeleteHi there Dean!... Once again a masterfully captured moment... and in this occasion... a smile!
ReplyDeleteThe dual proximity of your diagonal portraits gives further credence to her smile. Motherhood and smiles are synonymous most often! I know that we share that understanding!
Good Painting!
Warmest regards,
Bruce
Very expressive portrait, Dean.
ReplyDeleteLove it Dean.
ReplyDeleteLove it Dean.
ReplyDeleteYou do such wonderful portraits!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great job you did on her mouth. It looks so natural and the light on her top lip and area, I find especially wonderful.
ReplyDeleteA beautiful and emotional painting.
