In My Father's Footsteps-Landscape

Close ups

Oil on 7x5 hardboard.

This is my submission to the DPW Challenge. This week, it's hosted by that tremendous artist, Carol Marine.

Loved piling the paint on with brush and palette knife.

This picture struck me as a road that had been walked by generations of people. Each traveling in their own thoughts, yet all very similar. Then I thought of the many roads Jesus traveled...and how we all should strive to walk in His light.
Such are the confessions of my meandering mind...Lol.

Luke 24:32 They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?”

  6. Love the way your mind meanders, Dean. Mine does similarly. I noticed right away that this was looser than you usually paint. I was struck how you seem to do any painting, any style so darned beautifully! I love this one and knew right away that this was in Germany. Something just comes through it and sings. Gorgeous.

  7. Very nice, Dean. First email I looked this morning and I found this painting. I love how the light "peaks "through the leaves and the road just draws you along. Especially enjoy the scripture reference with the reminder of the fact that we don't walk alone. Love your work!

  8. my first love is plein air painting...and this definitely has that look, as if it were painted under the sky. Well done, and I like the narrative that went with it too.
