Lady In Red-Acrylic

Close ups

Acrylic on 5x7 hardboard.

This is my submission to the WDE at Wet Canvas. Valri was the host supplying the reference photos. This is a photo of her in front of a fireplace...the photo actually had this type of coloration.

I just experimented with some possibilities on this one. It could have gone in a hundred different directions.
These hardboards come pre gessoed and are pretty smooth and slick. Acrylic paint, especially thinned, performs in entertaining ways on this surface. What you give up in control is compensated by the excitement of unexpected outcomes.
I could have gone on with this, but chose to stop at this point before I lost it through overworking. Though far from perfection on the features, here it is.

Thanks for stopping in and commenting!

  1. Très belle expression dans son regard... On peut largement imaginer son attention sur les flammes du feu de cheminée. Vous avez réussi une très belle illumination sur son visage. Votre portrait rayonne remarquablement.
    Bisous Dean et bon weekend.
