Lake Anna Swans

Close ups

Acrylic on 8x10 paper.
NFS

These are swans from one of my favorite places...Lake Anna in Barberton, Oh.
A beautiful spot smack dab in a very urban area. Usually filled with walkers, joggers, and just plain ol' bench sitters, My favorite times to be there were early morning or late evening...when everything quieted down.

For the Flying Moleskin Project
This is my entry into Angela Elledge's moleskin. Her general theme is Places. Hope you like it, Angela!

Get ready, Vern...comin' atcha! Hope this shipment goes smoother than the last nightmare.

Psalm 147:1 Praise the LORD. How good it is to sing praises to our God, how pleasant and fitting to praise him!

I Feel Lucky!
A month ago James Parker awarded me with a subscription to Birds And Blooms magazine for entering his monthly challenge called Windows To The Words.

A short time ago, I won a beautiful print from Don Michael, Jr

I won a great little sparrow painting by Saundra Lane Galloway who runs a monthly challenge at Art For Life.

Then as if that weren't enough, I won the famous A Day Not Wasted artist's apron! This fine monthly challenge is run by Lee Brown a fine artist and gentleman.
Love those challenges!!

  1. Dean, I can always tell when it's one of your paintings, brilliant coloured skies, water and beautiful subjects. I like the feathered feeling you achieved on their necks.

  3. May your winning ways continue...

My first thought when I saw these lovely geese was 'romance'. I'm not sure why... Maybe it's the colors. Anyway, it's like this couple is out for an evening swim together while the babies are napping... Or, maybe I'm just delirious and should be heading to bed...

  5. I like the somber, moody colors you used in this piece Dean. Your white, colorless swans are SO colorful!
