Yosemite Landscape
Oil on 5x7 archival canvas panel.
Here's my contribution to this week's WDE at Wet Canvas. It's the Half Dome along with the Mercer River in Yosemite National Park. The reference photo was graciously supplied by Marianne. Thank you Marianne.
All the way through this one I kept reminding myself: don't over mix the paint.... load the tip of the paint brush...apply it in one or two strokes then leave it alone. Had no idea I could be so danged bossy! I'm startin' to get on my nerves...Heh, heh.

Well, Dean...if you're your own boss, your employee is sure doing a great job!!! Give him a raise, cause this is really nice. The depth perception is just right and the water seems photo realistic. 4 and 7/8 stars!!
ReplyDeleteThis is so good Dean! Love the way you used the thickness of the paint to make the snow cap. Great job on the water reflections too.
ReplyDeleteI love the freshness of this Dean. Well done!
ReplyDeletethe water is so amazing! Like glass---beautiful!
ReplyDeleteTravail appliqué, je suis certaine qu'un pêcheur y verrait frétiller les poissons dans votre eau...
ReplyDeleteVery beautiful work.
Best regards.
The contrasts between the mountain and the water are beautiful Dean. And I think I could all use a boss like you sometimes if this is the result!
ReplyDeleteThat inner voice sure led you well, Dean. This is magnificently beautiful!

This is one gem of a painting, Dean. It has great depth. Well done.
ReplyDeletereally nice Dean. It is such a gorgeous area just too many people there.
ReplyDeleteFace to face has got to be one of my favorites that I have seen from you. great job.
The areal perspective is excellent. Although the mountain is a warm color, it still appears in the distance. The water is very well rendered too.
ReplyDeleteGood thing ya listened to yourself Dean. This turned out great.
