Crown Of Gold

Close up

Oil on 7x5 hardboard.

This is my submission to Saundra Lane Galloway's great blog, Art For Life. This month her challenge features super animal shots from the Denver Zoo. Come on , artists!! Join in! :)

I love painting the big cats!
The way in which the sun illuminated the outer edges of the lion's mane, I was reminded of a crown...and , well...after all...he is the King of beasts.

Revelation 14:14 And I looked, and behold a white cloud, and upon the cloud one sat like unto the Son of man, having on his head a golden crown, and in his hand a sharp sickle.

  7. A lovely lion, how peaceful and patient he looks. Now, you realize of course that here you can see the real thing in the wild? Good wildlife paintings fetch very high prices in South Africa, it is our tourists who want them! I do not even try my hand at it!
