Fab Four
This is mixed media. Acrylic washes used as watercolor...Tombow and Pitt Pens...color pencil
This is my contribution to Liz Holm's Flying Moleskin book. Her theme is portraits. I decided to attempt an illustration of the Beatles..the Fab Four. I like doing star portraits because they are so recognizable. I enjoyed drawing stars from the movie mags as a youngster.
I tried to take the attitude of an illustrator for this one because I am fascinated by their work. I wanted to keep the colors more inventive as opposed to realism.
colossians 3:13 Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.

God bless and keep up the great work
OMG!!! I was one of the teen girls who screamed at the showing of "Hard Day's Night". You did a fantastic job! Liz is so lucky to get four portraits from one fabulous contributor.
ReplyDeleteI grew up with these Beatles. Wonderful illustrative piece. I love all the added colors and movements.
ReplyDeleteDean these are wonderful portraits for Liz. I love the way you handled the hair drawing with pens and then adding colour. Great painting.

You did an amazing job here--I couldn't be so brave as to tackle 4 portraits of people as recognizable as the Beatles--you pulled it off.
ReplyDeleteGroovy, Dean! Love the Fab Four and you've really captured their likenesses. Thanks for putting my favorite 2 up front. Lucky Liz!
ReplyDeleteSpot on Dean! What with Elvis' birthday and you painting the Beatles - there's a feeling of age creeping up!
