Comfy Cat Re-Do

Oil on 7x5 archival canvas panel.
Here is a re-do. I originally posted this painting on Jan.19, '08. At the time, I was displeased with something in it...but not sure exactly what. After looking it over today, I really felt it needed more vibrant color. The original background was dark and dull. There was too much over all purple throughout the piece.
Now the background sings with vibrant complements and the lighter areas of fur have been rescued with thicker, more textured paint. Now I feel it's a lot more successful as a painting!

  1. Hi Dean. It is good to see that you are not affraid to re work a piece and risk messing it up. It is best to take a chance. What is the worst than can happen after all? Good job. I like it better.

  3. Thanks, Frank. Yes, a good lesson to learn is that the marks you create in a painting shouldn't be considered as "precious". If something bothers you...wait a while,if necessary...after that time, if it still bothers you, then by all means change it.
