This is acrylic on a 5x7 smooth Gessoed Art Board by Speedball.
Something a little different for a change.
The surface of this board is very smooth and non absorbent. I started it with colorful random washes...watching how they swirled and puddled on the slick surface. I applied thicker acrylics in some select areas. I like the expressionist color and paint movement.
I also used a black Faber-Castell Pitt artist pen.
This technique was very freeing and I enjoyed it!

DeleteThank you Martine. Sorry to hear you've been having Blogger problems.
Your floral is beautiful!
I think I'd know this was your work, Dean, and that says something wonderful. Love the composition, the beard on the cello player (or is that a bass?). The colors are gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the great comment, Sherry!
DeleteThat's a "stand up" bass that he's playing.
Beautiful painting, Dean.!
ReplyDeleteThank you, Hilda!
DeleteI really enjoyed your cockapoo painting!
Love it.
ReplyDeleteHi there Dean!... You've captured that "good jammin'" feel in this small gem!
ReplyDeleteThe warm colour really contributes strongly to create a strong contrast with the dark clothing of this cool trio!
The beat goes on!...
Good Painting!
Warmest regards,
Bruce
Great composition and movement Dean.
ReplyDeleteYes, the movement here is really nice and I like the contrast of bright and dark-very effective.
