Himalayan Cat

 Close ups

Oil on 5x7 canvas panel.
This is my contribution to this week's WDE at Wet Canvas.

There is such a wide variety of cats, and many breeds have very unique appearances.
This Himalayan is pretty captivating.
I applied the paint with brushes, and painting knife, and and put my fingers to work blending when nothing else seemed to do what I wanted.
That's a "fly by the seat of the pants" background....completely invented.

  4. Thank you, Kathryn. I was at a stage with this one where it seemed nothing would get the effect I was after with the fur. That's where the digits came in.

  9. I love the blue nose with the yellow eyes. I feel it is a male cat and he is staring right at me as if he knows me.
You should finger paint some more!

  10. Absolutely love your Himalayan cat. I've been looking through your paintings and am impressed with your consistency in posting to your blog (something I'm not good with) and your dedication to producing works. Great job.
