Winged Rainbows-Lorikeets

Close up

Oil on 5x7 canvas panel.

This is my contribution to this week's WDE at Wet Canvas. Christine was the gracious hostess. Thanks for the great reference photos.

These colorful birds really appealed to me. I checked them out on the internet, and found that they're called Rainbow Lorikeets. I'd probably break my neck going for my camera if one ever landed at my feeder. But that's not too likely as they are native to Australia.
Some palette knife was used but this was done mostly with a loaded brush.

John 20:11 Now Mary stood outside the tomb crying. As she wept, she bent over to look into the tomb 12 and saw two angels in white, seated where Jesus’ body had been, one at the head and the other at the foot.

  1. Un couple à faire pâlir mon "Léo", n'est-ce pas ?!...
De très belles couleurs... Leurs yeux sont pétillants... Sont-ils comme des inséparables ?...
    Une très jolie peinture.
Gros bisous à vous et bon week-end.

Great colour and a solid composition... given the samll format!

  4. Anything ending in "-keet" must be beautiful, but even moreso when your hand takes them to paint, Dean. Beautiful birds and as I listen to the birdsong outside my open windows, I find myself wondering what this pair sounds like...
