Dem Dere Eyes-Ringtail Lemur

Close ups

Oil on 6x6 canvas panel.

This is my contribution to this week's WDE at Wet Canvas. June was the gracious hostess. Thanks for the great reference photo, June!

I liked the look in the little lemur's eyes. They seem open to so many interpretations....Dreamy...sad..angry...tender...Halloweenie.
I first prepared the panel with a coat of black gesso with a smidge of pthalo blue acrylic to make it really black. I love painting over this ground.

Hope you like it!

    Ten minute influence?

  2. Cette peinture me fait penser à ma fille Fauve... Pourquoi me direz-vous!
    Gros bisous

  6. The grapes are lovely and so is this little lemur, Dean, not too scary at all. Halloween does not exist here!

  9. Very halloweenie-- love it! They have such glowy eyes. His fur is wonderfully fluffy looking.

Did you know that John Cleese has a species of lemurs named after him? Operation Lemur quotes Cleese as saying "They're gentle, well mannered, and pretty and yet great fun . . . I should have married one.""
