Ladies' Man-Rooster
Oil on 7x5 hardboard.
This is my contribution to this week's WDE at Wet Canvas. The hostess was Wendy, and she provided great reference photos.
This bird is so slicked up in his colorful best, how could any hen in her right mind resist?

Hi Dean, When I looked at the side bar on my blog today this prize rooster caught my eye. When I saw the name I chuckled out loud. He is so bold and proud. I can see him now as he owns his space. You really did a great job capturing his essence.
ReplyDeleteOh now he is a dandy indeed! I can almost picture a 1700's foppish sort with his knee britches and fancy coat! Perfection, Dean!!
ReplyDeleteFeisty looking rooster Dean. He reminds me of our rooster "Salsa." Loved to hear him crow in the morning. One morning I didn't hear him and discovered some animal had managed to get in his pen and took him off. He was proud and magnificent looking and had always intended to paint him. Missed my chance...not even a photo.
ReplyDeleteno way a hen can resist! he is soooo sure of himself! Nicely painted!
ReplyDeleteHe looks very confident and proud!
