Dem Dere Eyes-Ringtail Lemur
Oil on 6x6 canvas panel.
This is my contribution to this week's WDE at Wet Canvas. June was the gracious hostess. Thanks for the great reference photo, June!
I liked the look in the little lemur's eyes. They seem open to so many interpretations....Dreamy...sad..angry...tender...Halloweenie.
I first prepared the panel with a coat of black gesso with a smidge of pthalo blue acrylic to make it really black. I love painting over this ground.
Hope you like it!

Gorgeous looseness in this painting.
ReplyDeleteTen minute influence?
Cette peinture me fait penser à ma fille Fauve... Pourquoi me direz-vous!
Gros bisous
I love it Dean! Really outstanding work. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a cutie and you did it with such expertise as always....
ReplyDeletegorgeous painting, Dean. Outstanding eyes! and I love how the light is hitting him. Great job.
ReplyDeleteThe grapes are lovely and so is this little lemur, Dean, not too scary at all. Halloween does not exist here!
ReplyDeleteThe eyes have it indeed, Dean. Another fabulous painting.
ReplyDeleteVery nice Dean!
ReplyDelete...somehow you ALWAYS bring something in a group of so-so photos to wonderful life...how do you do it?! Miracle worker!
ReplyDeleteVery halloweenie-- love it! They have such glowy eyes. His fur is wonderfully fluffy looking.
ReplyDeleteDid you know that John Cleese has a species of lemurs named after him? Operation Lemur quotes Cleese as saying "They're gentle, well mannered, and pretty and yet great fun . . . I should have married one.""
Hi, LS! Yep, I think the ten minute challenge influenced this one.

J' like much the glance of your lemur. A very pretty painting. Large kisses"
ReplyDeleteMartine...What a cool nickname! Thanks for sharing this.
Hi Crystal and Angela...Thank you very much!
ReplyDeleteHilda...I'm always attracted to painting the eyes of my subjects! And I definitely liked those lemur eyes!
ReplyDeleteMarie...Thanks! You may not have Halloween there, but your posts describe many things that we don't have here. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for your kind words Sherry and Brad!
ReplyDeleteWow, Thanks, Celeste! Lol...a long way from being a "miracle worker". But I do enjoy not being restrained by a photo.
ReplyDeleteThank you RG! Good seeing you again.
ReplyDeleteLol at John!
Where's your wife, John???
John: Up one of these trees, I think. ;)
