Pride- Child Portrait
Oil on 7x5 canvas panel..
This is my second contribution to this week's WDE at Wet Canvas. The hostess was Valri, and she provided great photos to work from.
I came upon a new find (for me) Peggi Kroll-Roberts. I really like her freeing style of painting...plenty of paint with less detail. Posterized in a way. Check her out.
Anyhow, I decided to try the proud fisherman with this approach. As usual I put in a bit too much detail, but it was fun and may need a few more tries.
Once again, thanks for the great refs, Valri!

You really captured the expression of pride in this child's face. Very nice, Dean!
ReplyDeleteI found several Peggi Kroll-Roberts demos on You Tube. Most are just introductions but worth watching.

ReplyDeleteAnother amazing piece that tugs at the heartstrings, Dean. How do you do that so often??? Reminds me of when I was a kid and my younger brother had such pride in catching fish when we all went fishing with my dad!
