Triple Header-Doggies

Painting Progression
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Step #1
I first applied mid tone gesso for texture then toned it with thinned reddish acrylic.
I used thinned mixture of pthalo blue, aliz.crimson, and burnt umber to make a fairly detailed line drawing. In a painting this complex, I figured I had better have a pretty good map!
Step #2
I first established the darks with the same thinned mixture I used for the drawing. Then I started adding the different patches of colors trying to keep them colorful (push the color).
Oil on 5x7 hardboard. This is my submission to the WDE. Kay was the hostess and very graciously supplied the photo...Thanks, Kay!
I tried to get a lot of broken color and freshness into this one. I enjoyed the attempting.
Galatians 1: 11 I want you to know, brothers and sisters, that the gospel I preached is not of human origin. 12 I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ.
  3. Gorgeous! I really enjoyed seeing your process. Thank you so much for sharing it. It's cool how the texture, especially on the right side, enhances the 'movement' of the vehicle. You ROCK, Dean!
  5. Interestingly, there are three different moods caught in a single frame! I could weave a story just by looking at them! The progression of colors is very nice and need less to say,the final result stunning!
