Peugeot Planter
Oil on 5x7 hardboard.
Here's my submission to this week's WDE at Wet Canvas. The photo showed an abandoned/retired 1938 Peugeot 202 truck in France. The photo was graciously supplied by Robert...Thanks Robert!!
I really thought long and hard before tackling this one. The old truck was a challenge for me with the mechanical straight lines and curves...the sort of thing I usually avoid.
It looked sad all alone and abandoned, so I brought a little cheer into it's life by doing what nature does...turn it into a planter. A nice contrast between organic and inorganic--man and nature.

Nice one! You have a winner here.
ReplyDeleteLove this color palette, nicely done. I've been staring at a couple of tractor photos for a while now, fear of the same mechanical features!
ReplyDeleteLove the truck Dean...and the comparison/contrast! NICE WORK! I'm with you on the lines...remember the football field I tackled last year...sheesh!!
ReplyDeleteYour work amazes me every-time. Beautiful texture of truck and the contrast with nature is a gr8 idea. The painting came up very well.
ReplyDeleteDean, I think this is my favorite Dean Haven piece ever. You've so beautifully captured the delicacy of these wildflowers! I love old vehicles and this whole composition just is stunning!
ReplyDeleteDean, I love this piece. It reminds me of the same type of subject I stumbled on years ago. Took a picture of it to later paint, but the picture turned out so bad that I couldn't use it. Great work!
ReplyDeleteOutstanding! I have always attached human qualities to inanimate objects. My family used to laugh at me when I was a kid for feeling sad for any of our cars that we traded in. lol. I am still that way--cars and trucks are like people! haaha--you have captured this guy's "pride" despite his fate. A wonderful painting.
ReplyDeleteHi Dean.. Very nice... and I love the flowers you've added to the scene!!
ReplyDeleteLove that Peugeot !
ReplyDeleteHi Dean ! it was nice to hear from you.
ReplyDeletetake care
