Where The Buffalo Roam

Close ups

Oil on 5x7 hardboard.

This is my submission to Gary Keimig's Wilderness Art Challenge. Gary is a mighty talented artist and photographer who resides in the perfect location...in the Rocky Mountain beauty of Wyoming! He snapped this magnificent bull bison at Hot Springs State Park. What a lucky man!

A few years back, due to some buyers, I fell into the niche of buffalo/bison art...so I'm fairly familiar with them. This was especially fun to paint!

  3. You have done well, Dean. I gave that buffalo one look and decided: PASS! It is not an animal we are familiar with, I thought that you only saw them on rock paintings in Europe! Will have to Google and find out more!

  9. Always love your paintings of animals Dean, you can tell it is one of your loves. Appreciate the close up shots too, love how you use so much paint. That is why I like oils the best, the texture you can achieve with them.
