Oil on 7x5 gessoed hardboard.
I first toned the surface with acrylic using burnt sienna and yel. ochre. I let it show through in selected places such as the hat. I tried for broken color in this one. I'm pretty pleased with it.
The image for this painting was graciously supplied by Liz for WDE at Wet Canvas.
This is Maria, a basketry maker at the Carrasco National Park in Bolivia.

I like this a lot. Nice way to do the hat with the tone color showing through.
ReplyDeleteThis is absolutely wonderful, Dean - great job!
ReplyDeleteTerrific!
ReplyDeleteDean, love this one. I like the under colors showing through. I taught in Bolivia for 2 years, 1979 -81. The women in the Alti-plano (mountains) all wear hats. Each village has a different hat, so you can identify where they're from. I just got out my old otos last week, looking for some costumed people to paint.
ReplyDeleteI'll add my words of adoration with the rest. You're so talented with every subject you decide to paint. You're love for painting really shows.
