Happy Thanksgiving-Wild Turkey

Oil on 5x7 archival canvas panel.

This was Benjamin Franklin's pick for the national bird . And I'm really, really, glad his choice lost out!! Well, just think about it....We might have been putting Bald Eagles in our ovens on Nov. 27th! Ummm...No thanks....just pass the mashed potatoes, please.

  1. These paintings are so small... 5 x 7! You get so much detail in such a small space and yet they never look fussy. Two thumbs way up!

  2. I'm with you Dean - glad ole Ben didn't get his way. They really are colorful birds and do have great eyesight. Have you ever wondered why some people will say "You turkey!" when they are made at them? I imagine it is better than saying "You jerk!" but I wonder why that came about. Poor turkey.

Oh I'm off track here - your turkey looks great. Happy Thanksgiving!

  4. Hi, Karen. You're right...they have excellent eyesight and are very evasive...many hunters consider them to be high on brain power compared to other game.
