Ohio Sunset-Take Two
Oil on 5x7 archival canvas panel.
This is one I simply had the strong urge to re-do a little. Essentially, what I did was to adjust the colors to represent that magical moment just before sunset. I think it is an improvement. What do you think? The original is here.

Oh yes, I like it better; however, I would have liked the first one had I not seen this one
ReplyDeleteHi dean, you've been painting really works lately, in particular this one, and the little girl have really stood out to me. the looser brushstrokes in these two are very expressive and adds an interesting quality to your work. great paintings!
ReplyDeletelet me try this again....'you've been painting really good quality works lately...'
ReplyDeleteHi, Helen! Thanks.I liked the first version also, but that wore off. I kept envisioning 'just a little later'...nearer twilight.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Christine. I appreciate your support of those two pieces. It helps me to believe that I'm heading in the right direction. All artists need that kind of help now and then. It also helps that the opinions come from fellow artists, such as yourself and Helen.
ReplyDeleteYes, I like it better Dean. Good job of pushing the colors just enough. Has a nice light to it.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Frank. I really appreciate it!
ReplyDeleteMany times self doubt is like a heavy anchor when doing art. Your opinion lets me know I wasn't that far off course.
