Oil on 7x5 canvas panel.
This is my contribution to this week's WDE at Wet Canvas. Dominic hosted.
I had to try the boat with a painting knife. This is completely by knife...no brush used. I remembered to use generous paint this time. That's not easy for me to do. At the moment, I'm satisfied with it.
C&C welcome. Thanks for looking and commenting!
Below is the original reference photo. Hope they don't revoke my artistic license!!!!

2 Corinthians 12:10 Therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake: for when I am weak, then am I strong.
I love all of your work Dean but this one just grabbed me from my blogger reader. Your artistic license is firmly intact. Bravo!

DeleteGidday Dean!... Bravo! "Licence"... is the permission one offers one's Self to adventure outside the usual comfort zone!
ReplyDeleteThis painting exudes energy and offers the exact far-from-pretty patina one often finds aboard fishing vessels! It has an authentic work boat feel about it... all in a very small space!! Bravo!... again!
Another Deano Gem!

DeleteWhat a treat to see this wonderful painting. it has everything I love - texture, creative color and skill.
ReplyDeleteAll the styles you know!!! The palette knife work has a very lively feel to it!
ReplyDeleteReally neat!Must have been lot of fun.I like the way you changed the whole atmosphere by using a warm palette.
ReplyDeleteDean - this is simply a stunning piece and to think you painted it all with a knife. I related to your statement about using more paint (that is my downfall too - I am just a wee bit mean with it -lol) - my watercolors often need to be more deeper. Thanks for sharing and your scripture holds a lot of meaning for me as well. I have to remind myself of that verse often. Take care and have a great day.
