Memorial Day 2013
Oil on 5x7 hardboard.
This painting is a repost from 2011. Sorry I failed to do a new one for this year. As I sometimes say: "My 'can do' was weaker than my 'want to'." I've had days when I haven't felt the greatest and time ran out to do a new painting for today.
Please take some time today to quietly thank God for the multitude of servicemen and women who gave their all for this nation we are so blessed to be living in.
When you are out and about and you see the military , don't be embarrassed to thank them personally for all they do.
Remember always to praise and pray. Praise our finest young citizens in the service...And pray for peace.

James 1:12 Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.
Very effective. Thinking of all those serving now and in the past -- my Dad in WWII Pacific Theater and my father-in-law in Europe. Men who were hardly more than boys, and fortunately returned to lead productive lives. They are both gone now.
ReplyDeleteThat's a point that always strikes me, Mary..."Men who were hardly more than boys".
DeleteBeautifully written post, Dean. Love the painting and sorry you have not been feeling the greatest. Will put your health on my prayer list right now.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Julie!
DeleteAnd Thanks for adding me to the list. Appreciated.
for me is new, I not seem before, I love it ... the color, visual texture , but what I like most is the message. beautiful.
ReplyDeleteMay God always bless those men and women who care for our nation's sovereignty. Have a nice day.
I leave a greeting.
Thank you for your heartfelt words, Mayra!
DeleteMay they all be blessed. I thank God for never have had to experience the horror of war.
ReplyDeleteThis is a beautifully done painting Dean, so realistic.
It has been a while since I have even posted anything but still think about you and hoping you are well. For me I have just fallen into a doldrum of doing nothing except a one painting that I was asked to do earlier this month. I suppose this can happen to all of us ha.
All my best to you Dean as always.
Thanks for the nice comment!
DeleteThe best fix for the doldrums, Steinunn, is to grab a brush, put a gob of paint on it, and attack a canvas. One thing will hopefully lead to another.
ps.....I should practice what I preach. Lol!
Thank you, Dean, for always remembering.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Sherry. I appreciate every time you stop by!
DeleteWow! such a beautiful post and absolutely gorgeous pair of boots...and so perfect for Memorial Day, Dean!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much, Hilda!

ReplyDeleteThank you, Lokelani, for your great comment!
DeleteThese are awesome Dean and such a tribute
ReplyDeleteThanks, Angela! Those are awesome oranges on your blog today!
DeleteDear Dean!... Your fine human spirit never fails to join hands with your painting hand to leave messages which pique the imagination... tickle the fancy with your wit... or to touch the heart and encourage others to remember the important gifts in our lives. Pure eloquence!
ReplyDelete"Boots on the Ground" says so much to "Me"... and so much about "You." Thank heavens for folks... who think... work and defy borders... either physical or political!
Thank you Dean and Happy Memorial Day to you and your countrymen!
Good Painting... and better health Dean!
Warmest regards,
Bruce
Ah, Bruce....no one can turn a phrase like you, my friend! You have a way of making what I do seem worthwhile...Lol.
DeleteThanks for the sunshine in the warm words....Think I'll bask in it awhile. :)
