Another Fine Mess-Portraits

 Close ups

Acrylic and Tombow pen on 5x7 hardboard.

This is my contribution to the The Emotion Challenge at DPW presented by Jo MacKenzie.
The challenge? As the title suggests...Paint an emotion!

Laurel and Hardy! Just saying it makes me smile!
A flood of side splitting predicaments and lines are stored carefully away into my library of happy memories. Thank you Stan and Ollie! :)

I used thinned acrylics much like watercolor washes. I also used a Tombow pen....It makes beautiful graded washes when water is added.
Thanks for the challenge, Jo!

  2. What a wonderful idea and just tells it all.
Interesting medium you used on this one Dean, may I ask what support you used?
    Have a lovely day!

  3. I love seeing some of the old movie stars of yesterday given new life in paintings, Dean. I always feel saddened that many of the younger generations today have not even heard of some of those icons of Hollywood. These two have always made me smile too, and for some reason, Stan Laurel also brings to mind Dick Van Dyke.

  5. I really like the effect you've achieved here Dean. Also love the subject matter - it clearly does show the emotion these two portrayed in these roles. Great job.

  8. Good Morning Dean!... Not only do we share joy gotten out of our common passion for painting!

We also share the same "funny bone"... and the memories created by these artists of slap-stick comedy!

In short Dean... we are bound as Friends by our passion for living ... painting... and sharing with those around us! Ain't life great?

"Oh what a lu-ve-ly bunch o' coconuts!..." HA HA!!

    Good Painting!
    Warmest regards,
    Bruce

  9. I'm old enough to remember Laurel and Hardy! (Sherry above wonders why Dick Van Dyke reminds her of Laurel ....it's because he patterned himself against him and impersonated Laurel often...like here:
