Forever Friends-Big Ears And Chloe

The start

Acrylic on 5x7 hardboard.

This is my contribution to this week's WDE at Wet Canvas. The hostess, Elizabeth, provided the photos.
These are her two cats, Big Ears and Chloe, caught in a touching moment. She lost both of them a month apart, from two different terminal illnesses.
I know how much this hurts from my own experience with my little dogs.

The acrylic is used much as thinned watercolor...looking for an expressive feel.

Thanks for looking.

  2. A touching tribute I would say..
The fluidity of the acrylics has contributed to the expressiveness of this piece.

  3. These are two beautiful kitties, Dean. Of course, every time you pick up a brush, you turn out amazing work, so I am not surprised. And oddly enough, I am sensing your own sensitivity to the loss of these fur babies in your brush strokes, every one placed with thought and emotion.

  4. I saw these expressive cats and hoped that you would describe the technique, Dean. I wish you can produce a book about all your various techniques! The Rooster in Glowing Color is one of my favorites!

  5. Un très bel hommage que cette jolie peinture. Ces minous sont plus vrais que nature... Une âme forte et généreuse se dégagent dans cette peinture. L'amour des animaux est présent et le talent du maître indéniable.
    Gros bisous
