Cardinal-Glowing Visitor

Close ups

Oil on 7x5 hardboard.

This is my contribution to this week's DPW Challenge. This is the Outside Your Window Challenge presented by Ann Feldman .

This is a frequent flyer to the bird feeder just outside my studio window. As I paint or browse on the puter, I can watch all the action from the diners. This handsome cardinal and his mate are regular daily guests. I have actually observed the male feeding a seed to the female on a couple of occasions! Ain't love grand ! It was in early Spring, so it may have been part of a pre nesting ritual.

  4. I never can decide which I think is more beautiful, the cardinal or the blue jay. Both are exquisite and I get so excited every time I see one or the other. Your cardinal is just beautiful Dean. Of course, you know I'm a huge fan of your work anyway; I already own two pieces!

  6. A big "thumbs up" on this cardinal. Love the way the color sings set off by the deeper, darker areas. Nice work!
